TermStar Functionality

TermStar & WebTerm: Functionality at a Glance

Search in dictionaries . We offer you a wide range of options to find the required term:

  • Enter the search term and hit the search button
  • Browse the dictionary
  • Work with regular expressions.
  • Copy and paste your search term into the search field regardless of the language that you use.

Filter database entries . Limit the database entries to be displayed by specifying values for a field. Filter the results according to topic, gender, status, the dictionary in which the results are located or any other attribute you may wish.

Customize the display . The display can be tailored to suit your computer and your personal preferences.

  • Determine which parts of the data record should be displayed: all languages or only the source and target languages, with or without language information, with or without header, etc.
  • Determine which fields of the database you would like to display: definition, context, status etc.
  • Save your settings to ensure that your personal configuration is available to you at all times.

Select languages

  • Search and display all languages available in Unicode (e.g. Asian languages, Russian, Arabic, Hebrew, etc.)
  • Select the source and target languages to be used in database queries. Only those terms will be displayed that contain the required information
  • Select the language of the user interface.

Add comments to the entries . Communicate with the terminology manager and other users.

  • Public comments can be recorded for any individual term. These are visible to all other users
  • You may also write private comments that can only be viewed by the terminology manager
  • WebTerm also lets you send private or public requests for new entries to the terminology manager.

Manage terminology . Additional administration functions are available to users with terminology manager rights: Terminology managers can handle the administration of TermStar data and decide on its publication on the Intranet or Internet with WebTerm. They can read and manage private and public comments or queries from users.

Integrate alternative databases . Integrate further TermStar databases in addition to your default database. You can thus refer to different databases according to the type of terminology.

Import for updates? That's not necessary. WebTerm uses the same database as TermStar. Changes made in TermStar are immediately available in WebTerm without any additional effort.
